Natural Hair Series (#4)

Below are some images from my natural hair shoot with Tique as well as questions that I asked about her hair!

Keep up with this series by subscribing to this blog! Be sure to look out for the final product!

How long have you been natural?
I have been natural for at least 3 yrs now.

What made you go natural? (If you've been natural your whole life, what made you stay that way?)
My hairstylist and my constant want for change and unique-ness made me want to go natural. I love switching up and looking different.

What's your favorite natural hairstyle?
I don’t have a favorite style because there’s so much to do and explore with hair. However I like rocking 2 braids braided in the front where my edges are or just how it is now free. Mohawks are hot too.

What's the most annoying/hardest thing about your hair?
My hair is thick and then on top of that it is long, so my process seems to take forever to do my hair.

What's the most annoying comment you've gotten about your hair?
“Its so big”. But I just laugh and say “it is?”

Why do you think some women are afraid to "go natural?"
I think women are afraid because they do not want to lose their length and because they are afraid of the unknown. Your hair is not straight anymore so lack of knowledge in hair care can seem intimidating especially when you are not used the natural state of your hair.

Do you buy your hair products or make your own? What are some of your favorites?
I buy my hair products however I am interested in making my own. Right now I really like mixed chicks for deep conditioning and leave in conditioner. As well as design essentials and can’t forget about 100% coconut oil.

Have you ever thought about "giving in" and perming your hair?
Yes I have. Just because I really like smooth edges and I don’t want to put a lot of product in my hair just so it will lay flat. But I have come around to it and just enjoy the natural beauty of my edges and now just do creative things.

Is natural hair a trend or lifestyle?
Natural hair is definitely a lifestyle. Its about confidence, loving yourself, and embracing YOUR beauty, inside and out. My slogan “Girls with natural hair rocks”.

If you could tell the world one thing about natural hair, what would it be?
It is ok to be different and unique. It is ok to be wild and free with your hair. Your hair is one of the things that you can be creative with on your body so lets do some crazy fun hairstyles and laugh and enjoy being naturally flawless in our hair, in our skin. OWN IT!!
